North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Sciences (NCDA&CS) will be certifying weigh scales on Thursday, December 16th, 2021 at the N.C. Cooperative Extension Forsyth County Center located at 1450 Fairchild Rd, Winston-Salem.

This service is FREE.

Those that sell produce and other items by weights must have their scales certified annually. Scales need to be NTEP approved to be legal for use in North Carolina to comply with laws dictated by the NCDA&CS. The Measurement Section inspects weighing and measuring devices for accuracy (scales, scanners, motor fuel dispensers, fuel oil meters, and many other devices) and performs inspections of packaged goods to ensure that they contain the stated net contents.

NC Dept. of Agriculture and Consumer Services will be available to certify farmers’ market and vendor scales. Get yours checked Dec 16!

DROP OFF: Wednesday 12/15; 12-5 PM OR Thursday 12/16; 8-11 AM.

PICK UP: Thursday 12/16; 12-5 PM

Attach a sticky note to each scale that you want to have certified with the following information:

  • County you live in
  • Name
  • Address
  • Phone Number
