Event Description:

Whether you are thinking of farming, a next generation on the farm adding strawberries, or an established producer of strawberries, this workshop will offer an overview of current strawberry production ad marketing in Western North Carolina. We'll look at pre-plant production considerations such as weeds, erosion, fertility and more. Produce safety for strawberry growers will also be covered. You will get to visit a local farm and see various equipment used in strawberry production. The workshop will begin at TRACTOR food hub with a look at their operation where they have a facility to aggregate fruit and vegetables from the region.

Covid-19 State & NCSU Guidelines for this Strawberry Pre-plant Event:

  • Lunch will be provided in a box with disposable utensils. Everyone will be encouraged to eat separately
  • If all participants are not vaccinated (which is particularly important for participants under the age of 12), physical distancing and face coverings are still a best practice and encouraged.
  • Hand washing and sanitation stations will be provided as well as masks for non-vaccinated participants.
