What is Farm City Week?

National Farm City Week is designated the week before Thanksgiving, a perfect time of year to stop and think about where your food comes from. North Carolina farmers work year-round to produce an abundance of food. Farm-City celebrations highlight the importance of agriculture to our economies, quality of life, and foodways, specifically recognizing the vital partnerships between rural and urban communities who prepare, transport, market, and retail our food. Neither the farm nor the city can exist in isolation. Our interdependence creates jobs, markets, and relationships that build our economy and support our collective security.

How Can I Participate?

N.C. Cooperative Extension, Forsyth County Center, celebrates Farm City Week annually to shine a light on the farms and agribusinesses that bring food to our tables. This year’s celebration includes a Farm Tour on November 7 and a Banquet on November 13. Both events are FREE and open to everyone of all ages.

Fair Share Farms Tour

Friday, November 7 at 10:30 a.m. & at 2 p.m.

Join us on a complimentary tour of Fair Share Farm in Pfafftown, NC. Fair Share Farm, established in 2014, is a diversified vegetable farm providing produce for restaurants and households across Forsyth County and beyond. This tour will be a great time to see the farmers in action as they prepare for weekend markets! The guided walking tours will last approximately 1 hour, with time at the end to shop the Barn Store. All registered participants will receive vouchers to spend on barn store products after attending their scheduled tour.

We hope you will join!

Tours are available in the morning or the afternoon. Please register for the time that best fits your schedule.

Thank you to all who participated in a tour!

Tour spots are limited, so please attend only the time you have signed up for. Parking, carpool options, and other relevant information will be shared with registrants the week of the tours.

Support for this farm tour provided by Forsyth County Farm Bureau.

Farm City Banquet

Thursday, November 13 from 5:30 – 8 p.m.

The Farm City Banquet is a must-attend event for all farm enthusiasts and city dwellers alike! Join us on Thursday, November 13, at 5:30 p.m. for a fun-filled evening and delicious meal at 1450 Fairchild Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
