The Wellness Produce Box Program Has Begun!

(Updated: March 1, 2023, 11:14 a.m.)
This NEW program is designed to reduce the barriers of consuming locally grown foods for many of our residents of Forsyth County who live in areas far away from grocery stores. This program is all about health and wellness as well as supporting our local farmers who grow and raise plants and animals for our consumption.

We will SOON be recruiting a class of 20 people for our first 12-week session class focused on kitchen safety, cooking classes, nutrition tips, container gardening, wellness, mindfulness, where to shop for healthy foods and fun exercises for all!

Benefits of the program include:  receiving a bi-weekly Produce Box filled with recipes and food for the cooking classes AND cooking at home, receiving a kitchen kit with all kinds of new kitchen equipment so class members can cook at home safely, a tour of NC A&T State Universities Farm, exercises for everyone in your family, learn about our Farmers Markets and Visit NC Farms program AND learn how to grow herbs and plants at home. These are just a few!

SO.....we will soon be recruiting for the first class. We also need small amounts of food for the food boxes to align with our SNAP-Ed recipes (20 dozen eggs, 20 - dozen ears of corn, 20 onions, 20 heads of garlic, etc). We are looking for farmers, urban farmers, community gardens and local businesses. If you can help get this brand new program off the ground, please call our office at #336.703.2850 today.
