September- Save the Planet with STEAM: DIY Hydroponics Bottle
Discover the magic of soil-free growing with our DIY Hydroponics Bottle workshop! Participants will create their own upcycled hydroponic system using a simple plastic bottle, wick, and nutrient-rich water. This hands-on activity teaches the basics of hydroponics, plant needs, and sustainable growing in a fun, accessible way. Perfect for curious minds of all ages—come build your bottle garden and watch your plants thrive! Program intended for ages 5-11!
October- Save the Planet with STEAM: Compost in a Jar
Discover how nature recycles with our Compost in a Jar activity designed for ages 5–11! Kids will layer soil, food scraps, leaves, and other natural materials in a clear jar to create their own mini compost system. As they observe the changes over time, they’ll learn about decomposition, microbes, and how compost helps the environment. This hands-on, sensory activity is perfect for young eco-explorers excited to dig into the science of rot and renewal!
November- Save the Planet with STEAM: Garden and Farm Planning Bracelets
This activity is suitable for any child interested in learning about planning for a farm or garden through beadwork! Participants will leave with a better understanding of the needs of plants and livestock, links from what farms and gardens cultivate to consumer goods, and a beaded bracelet of their potential garden or farm.
