Resources on Vegetable Gardening

There are many considerations for growing a vegetable garden. In the Piedmont, we recommend the Central North Carolina Planting Calendar for Annual Vegetables, Fruits, and Herbs. This publication is a helpful guide for when to plant in our area. The best growing seasons in the Piedmont are spring, summer and fall; the planting calendar gives tips for when to plant both cool- and warm-season vegetables.

Vegetable Gardening:  A Beginner’s Guide covers the basics and is a great guide for beginners.
