Introduction to Community Gardens

Friday | Oct 23 | 10:00 AM — 11:00 AM Reynolda Manor Branch Library, 2839 Fairlawn Dr NW, Winston-Salem, NC 27106, USA

Did you know Forsyth County has over sixty community gardens? These shared growing spaces have a variety of purposes, appearances, and structures, but each has a common goal: to increase the health and well-being of our local residents.

Join Katherine Tombs, Community Gardening Program Coordinator, to learn more about these gardens: how they were started, how they're sustained, and the work Extension does to support them. We'll explore some of the different models they use to operate, as well as highlighting their impact on local food security. And, of course, participants will leave the program with a clear idea on how to get involved!

N.C. Cooperative Extension prohibits discrimination and harassment on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, sex (including pregnancy), disability, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, and veteran status. Individuals with disabilities are invited to request reasonable accommodations to participate in Extension sponsored programs and events. Please contact the county Extension office or campus department offering the program at least 14 days prior to the event to make arrangements.
