We have a wonderful opportunity for youth to learn how to care for and show our wonderful, fluffy friends! Even if you don’t have a rabbit of your own, you may borrow one for the duration of the program and learn how to feed, water, groom, and care for it at home and then have the opportunity to show it in a showmanship class at our show!

What is Showmanship?

Rabbits are often judged on their appearance and how their bodies are put together. These are called “Breed Classes.”  Basically, if a rabbit isn’t born with the right conformation, there is not much anyone can do about it. In 4-H, we want the focus to be on what the youth can learn and do to make a difference with their rabbits, so we offer “Showmanship Classes.”  These show classes are where youth demonstrate their knowledge of rabbit feed and care and show off how they have learned how to handle and groom them.

How Do I Sign-Up for this Program?

We are working on getting a date set for our showmanship clinic that youth will be required to attend if they participate. The 4-H Showmanship Show will be held on the evening of April 21st in New Bern. The specific location will be given to those who sign-up. In the meantime, tap or click the following link to access our Rabbit Show Interest Form and sign-up. One of our agents will get in contact with you and let you know more information.
