A delegation of more than 100 4-H youth and adults attended 4-H Citizenship Focus for the “Reconnecting, Reimagining, and Igniting our 4-H Community”event in Raleigh, North Carolina. The delegation included Henderson County 4-H’er, Maggie McCall!

Citizenship Focus WorkshopCitizenship Focus is a two day event for 4-H’ers from across NC 4-H to gather, exchange ideas, gain knowledge and learn through hands-on experiences about the importance of being an active and engaged citizen! 4-H’ers attend various conference sessions and facilitated discussions, learn and share information related to different levels of government, and perhaps the best part, visit elected officials at the Legislative Building in downtown Raleigh.

Henderson County 4-H is extremely grateful to our elected officials Tim Moffitt, Jennifer Balkcom, Warren Daniel, and Jake Johnson for the time they took to engage with our 4-H’ers from the West District! It was an excellent visit for our 4-H’ers to learn from our representatives, visiting and learning history of the Senate and House floor, and witness policy making in action.

4-H Citizenship North Carolina Focus is sponsored by NC Electric Cooperatives. 4-H is North Carolina’s largest youth development organization, equipping more than 200,000 young people each year with the skills to succeed and improve the world around them.

4-H programs and camps encourage young people to “learn by doing,” helping them to develop into active, contributing citizens. We are grateful for the opportunities presented to our 4-H’ers to meet and speak with our NC government!
