Description:

The Egg-cellent Egg Contest fee is $15 and is open to youth who have a flock of laying hens currently laying. All youth will be required to enroll with 4-H Online if not already enrolled. Youth will be able to register using the link below and will have to send a check or money order to the Hoke County Extension Office (all of this is noted in the registration form). Participants who complete the project will receive a t-shirt. Cloverbuds will receive medals and older age categories will receive ribbons and award money if they get 1st-3rd place in one of the color/size categories.

The whole contest is virtual and a link to a Google site will be sent to participants once registration is over. There are two mandatory trainings the participants must attend. They can join the live zoom or view the recording. If they view the recording, they will have to let their 4-H and/or livestock agent know when they have watched so they can get checked off.

Youth can submit up to 2 dozen eggs as long as they are in two different categories. There are three color categories (white, brown, blue/green) and multiple size categories. The Area Specialized Poultry Agents will help coordinate with the agents in their counties to get the eggs to Raleigh for judging. Below are important dates (these are also included on several of the advertising things).

  • Registration by Sept 9
  • Checks received by Sept 23 - if not received by this date, the youth will not be able to participate
  • Initial zoom - Sept 13 at 5:30
  • In-depth zoom - Sept 27
    • 5:30pm-6:15 pm Ages cloverbud-/jr
