Project Learning Tree K-8 Workshop with new E-Units!

October 25, 2017
9:30am – 3:30pm
Guildford College
Greensboro, NC
To Register: Renee Strnad renee_strnad@ncsu.edu
Registration Deadline: October 16

Join other K-8 classroom and nonformal educators as we explore activities in the Project Learning Tree K-8 Curriculum Guide and the brand new e-units! Every participant will leave the workshop with the PLT K-8 Activity Guide which includes 96 activities, as well as a code for one of the new E-Units. Total value of materials is $45! CEU renewal credits are available. This workshop qualifies for Criteria I in the EE Certification Program.

Differentiated instruction? Technology connections? Literature links? STEM? The PLT activity guide covers it all!!! The PreK-8 guide is correlated to the Common Core (math and ELA) as well as to the NC Essential Standards (science and social studies). Participants will learn about the materials through direct engagement in the PLT activities throughout the workshop.

What are the e-units? PLT’s e-units are self-contained units of instruction that are housed fully online. They are multi-disciplinary lessons designed to be easy for teachers to access and use. In addition to step-by-step procedures, the e-units include a variety of teaching tools to enhance instruction, such as downloadable student pages, online quizzes, and links to videos. www.plt.org/news/new-online-units-grades-k-8/

Workshop materials (a $45 value!) are provided at no cost to participants through partnership with NCSU Extension Forestry and the NC Forestry Association, however, pre-registration is required. Please make a personal commitment to attend to ensure there are enough materials and space for everyone. If you must cancel, please do so in a timely manner so someone else may take your place in the workshop. Please bring your lunch! Directions sent upon registration.

Description:

We hope you will join us for the Fall Workday at the Arboretum at Tanglewood Park from 9am-12pm on Saturday, September 29, 2018.

Please register for this volunteer opportunity: go.ncsu.edu/2018arbfallfcemgv

We need your help to prepare the Arboretum's many gardens for fall. We will be mulching, moving plant material, completing tool maintenance, and other fall gardening tasks. We need your person-power to help accomplish these jobs! Volunteers should expect to get dirty, and tasks may include walking, lifting, bending, etc.

Cooperative Extension relies on volunteers to assist with maintenance of the Arboretum as a demonstration garden and educational space for Forsyth County residents to learn about horticulture and gardening.

If you don't normally volunteer at the Arboretum, this is a great opportunity to learn more about it and the volunteers who work there regularly.

We welcome volunteers, ages 12 and older, to participate in this opportunity. Participants under the age of 18 will need to submit a liability release form signed by their parent or guardian.

Please contact Erin McSpadden (336-703-2848, ebmcspad@ncsu.edu) with questions or concerns. We look forward to seeing you at the Arboretum this fall!
