Collapse ▲Four Carteret County Youth Participate in District Presentations; Two Move Onto State Presentations
4-H Presentations are a huge part of North Carolina 4-H. It is one of the most successful ways to help a young person learn how to do a public speech. It focuses on members teaching others what they know about a particular project/subject matter. They are sometimes called demonstrations or illustrated talk or a formal speech. Each year, youth present for a panel of judges at the county level. The judges are asked to evaluate the presentation based on District and State rubrics and to provide feedback for improvement. Then, youth present at District Activity Day. This year’s district event was held on Friday, June 24 in Lenoir County on the campus of Lenoir Community College. Carteret County had four youth who participated at the district level.
- Ella Hill received a Cloverbud award for her presentation “Horses” in the Cloverbud category.
- Chella Rowe received Gold with her presentation “Life of a Vegetarian: Finding Protein” in the 8-10 Foods and Nutrition Category.
- Bethany Copeland received Gold with her presentation “The Wonderful World of Dog Competition” in the 11-13 Small and Companion Animal Category.
- Catherine Paschall presented her presentation “Wildlife Rehabilitation: Hawks” in the 11-13 Forestry and Wildlife Category.
Gold winners, Chella and Bethany, will move on to State Presentations on Saturday, July 16 on the campus of North Carolina State University. We look forward to hearing those results very soon!
