As we prepare for the return of campers at our three North Carolina 4-H Camps & Centers this summer, we wanted to share all of our 2021 summer camp season information and updates in one location, in an effort to consolidate and streamline our communications.

First, please take a moment to watch this 2021 Summer Camp Season Orientation:

Second, please read our 2021 Summer Camp COVID-19 Testing Memo and complete our Pre-Camp Health Screening Form – Updated with COVID Test Attestation prior to the arrival of camp. Please note that completion and submission of this form is a requirement to attend camp this summer and any camper not completing and submitting this form will not be permitted to attend camp.  This is for the health and safety of everyone in our camp community.

Finally, please review the following guidelines and procedures shared in the 2021 Summer Camp Season Orientation:

Pre-Arrival Procedures

  • All campers/staff/Agents should engage in a 2-week pre-arrival quarantine that includes:
    • physical distancing
    • mask wearing when not at home
    • avoiding unnecessary travel
    • refraining from indoor social gatherings

What to Expect Upon Camp Arrival

  • County 4-H camp transportation procedures include a temperature check prior to loading vehicles.
  • Additional temperature check will be administered upon arrival to camp as part of camp check-in process.
  • Campers will then move to their cabins in their small group cohorts for entire camp week.
  • For open enrollment campers or campers whose parents provide camp transportation, they must then leave after camper proceeds to cabin and small group cohort.

Procedures for a Sick or Positive Camper

  • Camp staff will be trained on signs and symptoms of what to monitor with campers every day.
  • Any camper who shows signs or symptoms of illness will be isolated and evaluated further.
  • For a camper who has a fever during daily temperature checks in the morning, a rapid COVID-19 test may be administered based on guidance from the local county health department.
  • If administered and the camper tests positive, the entire group cohort will be isolated and in quarantine and evaluated further.
  • Campers who tests positive will be removed from camp and will require 4-H Agents or parents to arrange return transportation home.

Refund Policy

  • If the university makes a decision to cancel camp, full refunds will be issued.
  • If a camper demonstrates symptoms of illness or tests positive prior to camp, a refund minus the deposit will be issued.
  • Once a camper arrives to camp, there will be no refunds issued for any reason.
  • Parents assume all risk for their child attending camp.

Please direct any questions or concerns to Dave Herpy, NC 4-H Camping Specialist, via email djherpy@ncsu.edu or at (919) 515-8483.

We look forward to great summer camp season and to seeing your child at camp this summer!
