Have you recently acquired property and want to produce agriculture-related products for sale or charity? Have you had property for a while now and wonder what you might be able to grow/raise to help it be more profitable or productive?

Many of you participated in Backyard Agriculture 101(BYA 101) this past spring and summer! Well, this same group of Extension Agents from Franklin, Granville, Person, Vance, and Warren counties, are joining forces again to bring you ‘Backyard Agriculture: Taking it to the Next Level’ (BYA:TNL).

Join us for a seven-part series about ideas for your property and things you need to think about before starting an agriculture venture on your property. This series will begin Wednesday, December 2nd, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. and a class will be held every other week through February 24th, 2021. Each class will be on Wednesdays at 1:00 p.m. and they will be presented through the video platform Zoom. Registration will be required through Eventbrite. Unlike BYA 101, BYA:TNL will be more of a collective series, where one class will build on the next, so make plans to attend all 7 classes!

Topics to be discussed each session:

December 2 –  What can I do with small acreage?

December 16 – Farm Infrastructure (fencing, facilities, ponds, irrigation, etc.)

December 30 – Government Programs

January 13 – Business Planning/Mission/Goals

January 27 – Marketing/Markets/Production Planning

February 10 – Tax Issues/Regulations

February 24 – Equipment Basics – Selection and Safety

Resources from each class will be posted below.
