North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Montgomery County Center is pleased to announce that the 2019 Montgomery County Youth Livestock Show will be held on Saturday, August 24, at 10 a.m. on the grounds of the Agriculture Center, 200 Glen Road in Troy.

Heifer check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. with the heifer show beginning at 10 a.m. Goats will check-in at Noon with the goat show beginning at 1:30 p.m.

This year, Higgins and Son BBQ will be on-site serving up their delicious BBQ sandwiches, burgers, dogs and more.

Immediately after lunch, there will be a special Pee Wee Goat Show for anyone under the age of five. Pee Wee Show participants will get to lead a goat around the show ring (with the help of a parent or older showman), talk to the judge and receive a medal for their effort.

NEW to the show this year, following the Pee Wee Show, there will be a Special Needs Goat Show. This class will be open to anyone with a special need or disability of any age that would like the opportunity to show a goat. The Montgomery County 4-H Livestock Club is sponsoring this event and will have ribbons for the participants.

Showing livestock is for any youth, ages 5 to 19, interested in raising, training and showing a beef heifer or market goat. This event is sponsored by Montgomery County Farm Bureau, Carolina Farm Credit, Montgomery County Cattlemen’s Association, Blue Q Ranch, and Star Feed and Seed.
