4-H Livestock TeamThe Forsyth 4-H Livestock Team competed at the NC State Fair in both skillathon and judging October 27 and 28, 2018. Katherine Eastep placed fifth overall in the judging competition. The senior team of Lynae Bowman, Katherine Eastep, and Lakota Sockwell placed sixth in the state. Nate Bowman also competed in the junior livestock judging competition. In the Skillathon competition, Hannah King was only nine points behind the leader, placing second in the state. Lynae Bowman placed sixth. The Forsyth County Senior team was also second overall, only placing behind the team that will represent North Carolina at the National 4-H Skillathon competition at the North American International Livestock Exposition in November. The team also won the Quality Assurance category of the contest, which Hannah King won, and Lynae Bowman was third in. Lynae was sixth in Evaluation and the team was fifth. In the identification category, Hannah was second, Lynae was sixth and their teammate Lakota Sockwell made the top ten, which put the team in second. In the Junior Division, Nate Bowman joined 4-H’ers from Nash County to place fourth in the team competition.
