Pawpaw Orchard Tours Being Held in August

— Written By and last updated by

The month of August presents three opportunities to learn about pawpaw cultivation in Forsyth County!

There will be tours of N.C. Cooperative Extension’s Pawpaw Demonstration Orchard at the Forsyth County Agricultural Building on these dates:

Wednesday August 22 at 5:30 p.m.

∙Friday August 24 at 10:00 a.m.

∙Saturday August 25 at 2:00 p.m.

The orchard was planted in 2009 and has been producing fruit since 2012. The pawpaw tree produces a large edible fruit and is native to our region. The tree has an attractive habit of growth and is well-suited for residential gardens as well as for commercial cultivation.

Please register if you are able. Register by calling 336-703-2850 or emailing coop-ext-registration@forsyth.cc.

In the event of inclement weather, please check Extension’s Forsyth County Facebook page for updates. Click here to visit the Facebook page.  Those who register by phone will also receive a phone call in case of cancellation at least one hour prior to the tour.

Meet in front of the Forsyth County Agricultural Building a few minutes before the start of the tour. Please wear walking shoes as the terrain is sloped and can be slippery. The tour will be cancelled in the event of rain.  The orchard is located at 1450 Fairchild Road in Winston-Salem.

The orchard is looking great and we hope to see you on a tour! For more information call 336-703-2850.green fruit on limb
